Happy Birthday America

These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.” Thomas Paine

The pictures were taken in Afghanistan summer of 2007. Fred celebrated the 4th of July that year in the company of soldiers and airmen. We had our traditional celebration with some anxiety but with added pride.

As you find your own way to celebrate the birth of our nation, please remember the many American troops and their families at this difficult time. Keep them in your prayers and thank them when you see them. And please... please remember our Afghan brothers and sisters who hope and pray for the Peace and Liberty we enjoy. We are our brother's keeper if we are filled with charity! May we always remember that our nation was formed as one "under God" and may He bless our land.

Happy 4th Mom and Dad! We sure missed you at the parade this morning but the girls had a good time eating ice cream and collecting treats. Pictures coming soon...

You'll be happy to know we are celebrating. The picnic was fun and we bought some fireworks. The only thing I will really miss...your potato salad and Grandma's chocolate cake. Well...and the rest of the fam.
